Lesson 13

Feeding 5,000; Martha and Mary

Key Passages: Luke 9:10-17 and Luke 10:38-42

Basic Truth: God knows and provides everything we need

Memory Verse: And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.  Luke 12:29-31

Discussion Questions

All Levels
Q: Why do pagans run after things for this life?
A: They don't know the true God who takes care of them. They think they can take care of themselves.

Grade 1-2
Q: Why does God always provide what we need?
A: God generously provides everything we have because of His love and grace

Grade 3-4
Q: Why does God tell us not to worry about this life?
A: God has promised to provide everything we need. To worry means we don't trust God.

Grade 5-6
Q: Why is my worldview important?
A: What I believe about life shapes my priorities and choices.

Family Activities:
1) Try sharing 1 pita and 1 can of tuna for your evening meal. Talk about God's faithful provision (be prepared for a follow-up meal...which is provided by GOD!)
2) Read and discuss Psalm 63:1-3 or Luke 12:22-34
